Latest Fishing Report: On the Line

Gabriola/Nanaimo April 14th
Chinook are starting to move into the area, although there is still a distinct lack of bait. We caught a 16 and 22 pound chinook off Thrasher on April 12th. These were taken at 120 feet on the green flourescent Hot Spot flasher, followed by a six foot leader, and black/white Coyote spoons. Strip or whole baits fished in the Rhys Davis clear green scale teaser, and the green spackleback hoochie are also worthwhile baits. The fishing is productive to the North of us, with the Nanoose Bay area showing good returns.
Prawning is good off the Flat Tops. Try tuna cat food fished at 320 to 350 feet for best results.
